Sarala Gautam, EIT Joins Bonton Associates

At Bonton Associates, people define our practice — so whether we’re welcoming young talent or seasoned professionals, it’s critical that we bring diverse skills, cultures and perspectives to the #teambonton table. Our newest team member, Sarala Gautam, EIT, is another exceptional example of our strategy in action.

Sarala comes to us after recently receiving her master’s degree in environmental science from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. As a project engineer with the firm, she assists senior engineers with the firm’s water and transportation infrastructure work. “It’s a joy to have something new to learn and achieve every day,” she says. “This dynamic team really motivates me to accept new challenges and take full responsibility for my work. Seeing projects that I have worked on come to life is the most satisfying part for me.”

Originally from Pokhara, Nepal, Sarala earned her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Pokhara University. Interestingly, “pokhara” translates to “pond” or “pool” in English — which makes us fairly certain that she was destined for a career in water engineering. “I believe it’s almost time for us to rephrase the saying ‘water saves lives’ as ‘water can take life,’” she continues. “As an engineer, getting smarter about water means using our knowledge and technology to act before disasters that have devastating water-related effects.”

As a recent hire, Sarala has found Bonton to be a place where she and other young professionals can thrive. “This is a company with smart, enthusiastic people,” she says. They always strive for high-quality project delivery and are prepared for any challenge. This is a place where you will definitely work on some cool and interesting projects.”

Away from work, exploring new places has always been at the top of Sarala’s list. She loves being close to nature, and finds peace in the sound of flowing water. Recently, she has enjoyed trying her hand at lawn tennis and karaoke. We’re proud to sing her praises and are thankful she’s with us!
