Bonton Associates Welcomes Marston Fowler As Chief Operating Officer

At Bonton Associates, people drive our progress — and we continue to invest in a diverse group of professionals committed to helping communities thrive. With the addition of Marston Fowler as the firm’s new Chief Operating Officer, we look forward to strengthening the quality of our organization and services we deliver to our clients. Our goal is to grow by broadening our service offerings and bolstering our internal systems to improve client outcomes and increase capacity. In his role, Marston will oversee all administrative functions, including human resources, finance, accounting, and legal. “I enjoy being involved in all business processes,” he says. “That allows me the chance daily to find ways to improve performance while continuing to deliver excellent customer service.

A labor attorney by trade, Marston comes to Bonton after spending more than four years serving as COO and general counsel with a local Baton Rouge professional services firm. “My career path is quite different from that of the typical Bonton Associates employee,” he says, “but in recent years I’ve been working in less traditional legal roles that have drawn on my background in finance and management.” Bringing on a talented team member from outside the engineering world is a testament to our commitment to learning and growing as a firm from others’ unique work and life experiences.

Marston looks forward to contributing to a firm so focused on public infrastructure and how it can — and should — benefit all. “I’ve always been fascinated by infrastructure, from transportation logistics to personally experiencing an improperly functioning drainage system,” he explains. “There are many key government functions that we all support but do not all use. Infrastructure improvements, however, are used by all of us; roads, sewer systems and drainage systems are the foundation of successful communities, and when this falls behind, our collective standard of living is diminished”

“It was quickly apparent to me that Bonton approaches infrastructure challenges with a quality-first mentality,” Marston continues. “Quality and financial outcomes are not ‘either/or’ here — company leadership believes quality solutions drive improved financial outcomes.”

A Baton Rouge native, Marston holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Tulane University and a law degree from South Texas College of Law Houston. Away from work, he enjoys doing anything with his kids and family, taking in Saints games and taking off on adventure travel. We could not be happier that his next professional journey will be with #TeamBonton!
