With a growing team, great projects and a big move to our new office, 2020 was a landmark year for Bonton Associates. To kick off the new year, we’re proud to introduce you to one of our newest additions, Marcus Bonton, PE.
Marcus joins the firm as an accomplished civil engineer with deep experience in the regional transportation sector. As Principal, he’ll focus on growing our new transportation practice in a way that meets client and community goals while challenging and fulfilling our staff.
An advocate of the “complete streets” design and policy approach, Marcus sees a more integrated transportation future, one that better accommodates vehicular, pedestrian and bike traffic. It’s a goal that demands individual expertise used for collaborative, team-focused problem-solving — exactly the environment we try to nurture at Bonton. He looks forward to integrating our shared experiences and expanding our presence as thought leaders in the transportation space.
As a Baton Rouge native and 2008 civil engineering graduate of Southern University, Marcus appreciates the firm’s commitment to the local community. “We’re constantly striving to be smarter and more innovative, to do excellent work that enhances the quality of life for our citizens,” he says. “I love our team’s energy, self-motivation, intuition and willingness to learn.”
Marcus is a health and fitness buff, and he loves to travel, having visited parts of Europe, Africa and Asia and relished their unique cultures, distinctive architecture and incredible food. On his journeys, he’s always impressed by the mass of people able to move simultaneously from one place to another with relative ease. “We all expect and depend on reliable transportation to get us where we’re going. Traveling reminds me that the work we do to improve transportation facilities, whether great or small, is truly integral to how we live and do business.”
