The Talent That Powers our Progress

In conjunction with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), Bonton Associates is proud to shine a light on our profession during National Engineers Week, February 18-24. Founded by NSPE in 1951, Engineers Week is dedicated to ensuring a diverse and well-educated future engineering workforce by increasing understanding of and interest in engineering and technology careers. This week we celebrate our team members across Bonton’s Baton Rouge and Shreveport offices, all of whom play critical roles in helping our clients and partners succeed.

Engineers Week is a time to recognize the ways engineers make a difference in our world. Here in Louisiana, our team leverages data and technology to engineer thoughtful, sustainable water and transportation solutions that help communities thrive. Together with our project partners and owners, we take on the toughest challenges, never stop learning, and share our insights to help move our industry forward. We’re especially proud of our work on numerous projects funded by MoveBR, the largest and most significant transportation infrastructure investment in East Baton Rouge Parish history

Another critical responsibility of our profession is to increase public dialogue about the need for engineers and the work we do. Presenting the first-ever Louisiana Stormwater Summit and promoting public input on the LADOTD’s forthcoming update to its Statewide Transportation Plan are just two of the ways we engage communities and increase awareness of our unique role.

Finally, this week encourages us to bring engineering to life for kids, educators and parents, so that our profession continues to develop talented, curious candidates who are ready to make a real difference in the world. To mark our 10-year anniversary in 2022, we produced Drips and Drops and Splashy Facts About Water, an educational coloring book designed for children and teachers from kindergarten through second grade that tells the story of water, its everyday importance, and how a public water system works. We also offer college internships in both Bonton offices, delivering on-the-job education that helps accelerate students’ careers and set them apart from other candidates in a highly competitive job market.

We hope you’ll join us in celebrating 2024 Engineers Week. If we can answer your questions about what we do or speak with your organization, please let us know!
